After scrounging around for how-tos on drilling holes into glass, I appreciate a well written, easy to follow tutorial on drilling holes. I learned several things from this article, like using a plastic template to keep the drill bit from traveling.

Free Documentary Films

I found this site, Free Documentary Films, where I can stream 1,800 documentaries. Plus they are commercial free.

I'm seriously considering cancelling my netflix account. Why pay $8 when I can stream for free?

On Free Documentary Films, I just watched The World According to Monsanto, which talks about this multinational company who's trying to control the world by owning all of the seed.

Gently Waking Up

For years I used a jarring alarm clock to get me out of bed. By setting the alarm for 7 am every day, I trained myself to get up a minute before the awful sound would go off. Then as cell phones evolved, I selected a peaceful song to wake me up, which I actually look forward to hearing.



There are other gentle alarm clocks, like the sunrise alarm clock that gradually turns on a light. Sunrise clocks can have tons of other features like an iPod dock, white noise feature, emits aromatherapy, or a star globe.





Or you can feel like you are waking up in a Zen temple, by using a Zen Alarm Clock. This bamboo clock is designed to strike a brass Meditation bowl, gradually speeding up. Since how there is a volume control, I am curious if the timer function could be set to specific intervals so it could be used in a martial arts school, instead of using the traditional beeping time machines.




I also found this really cool digital alarm clock that runs on water. I don't know what the alarm sounds like, but I love the idea of not having to recharge batteries.

Did you know you can buy giftcards on amazon and have them emailed to that lucky person?

I figured that you'd have to wait for an actual giftcard to be mailed, but technology is far beyond that. It's as simple as typing in any amount you wish to give to your friend, type in their email address and then enter your credit card number. How exciting would that be to get that in the inbox, instead of spam and forwards? Plus you don't have to wrap it. I'm enamored by the idea. Just had to share.

Women Environmental Artists Directory

Looking around for Sacramento artists to assist, I came across the Women Environmental Artists Directory. Of the couple hundred ladies listed that had web sites, 90% live in the SF bay area and NY city. Who knows, maybe one day I'll move back there.

Last semester I took a small business class. It's amazing how that's changed my mindset from a consumer to an owner. I used the government's site called Small Business Administration called SBA, which has free classes and tons of information. A classmate sent me this link, on sample business plans. This is super helpful when writing your own business plan, to compare and see what direction you could take.

How about custom business cards that have original artwork of you at work? The artists at Show Off Cards have taken the typical caricature artist who works in touristy areas like Fisherman's' Wharf, and changed the target market to include people looking to spend more money. Smart. Plus they work from any where, instead of dealing with weather and tourist (sorry tourists). Thank you Mom for sending me this.

My new favorite music is jazz. My bro took me to Yoshi's last week. They serve sushi and have live jazz! What a great combo! We saw Stanley Clarke, and he was amazing. He played with 3 young men in their mid-twenties. They all looked so excited to be playing with their hero. It was a great time. Thanks bro.
